Have a Timm
and Dini Christmas, it’s the best time of the year! Chris and Cindy celebrate the season by discussing some favorite
yuletide themed works by Bruce Timm,
Paul Dini, and the fine folks at Warner
Brothers Animation!
First
off is The Batman Adventures Holiday Special. Follow the heroes and villains of Gotham throughout December, as they spread
Christmas cheer…and mayhem! Batman and
Batgirl face off against Clayface, Harley
and Ivy, Mister Freeze and the Joker! This comic inspired The
New Batman Adventures episode, “Holiday Knights” and that episode
is discussed as well.
The
focus shifts to the Justice League
animated series, and the season two episode, “Comfort and Joy”. The Justice Leaguers spend the holidays in their
own unique ways: Green Lantern and
Hawkgirl party, Flash tries to
find the perfect gift for some special kids, and Superman shares his homespun Christmas with his fellow alien
friend, the Martian Manhunter. It’s
a funny, touching, and surprisingly spiritual day in the life of the World’s Greatest Super Heroes.

Merry
Christmas and a Happy New Year!!!
Very fun Xmas episode! I don't think I'm the only SMP listener who would like to see you guys tackle BTAS, episode by episode, ala WHO'S WHO. You both clearly have a real passion for that show.
ReplyDeleteChris' reaction to Cindy picking up the BTAS theme without missing a beat was genuinely touching.
I love the use of source music during the BTAS recaps. I should do something like that on F&W, but I am far too lazy.
One final thought: for an Xmas episode, you guys sure did have potty mouths.
Merry Christmas Super Mates Podcast!
Thanks Rob! Hmm...every BTAS episode, huh? That's a VERY good idea. We may have to do that.
ReplyDeleteJust like 90% of the show, Cindy picking up the following bars of the BTAS theme was a totally spontaneous things. It IS one of the reasons I love her so. :-)
I went a little nuts with the music and the sound bites in this one. I guess the Christmas Spirit just got into me...but not enough to clean up our language, apparently!
Merry Christmas back at ya, Rob!
